Biography

Dr. Howland approaches patient care with openness, authenticity, and respect, grounded in both holistic and evidence-based medicine. He focuses on creating a space free of judgment, where patients can speak honestly and openly about their life experiences and goals. His goal is to offer clear, informed recommendations, and let his patients decide on a care plan that aligns with their values and priorities.

Dr. Howland has been a part of the Charlottesville community since 2012. He earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020 and completed his residency training at the University of Virginia in 2023.Dr. Howland completed medical training in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic – an experience that shaped many aspects of his practice. Dr. Howland prioritizes outcomes that matter most to patients: living longer, living better, and making choices that genuinely improve quality of life.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Howland enjoys spending time with his friends and family, playing hockey, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
