Biography

Luisa Carreiro Powe, PA-C has been with Burke Internal Medicine since 2013. She has been practicing medicine as a Physician Assistant since 1990. Upon graduating from Northeastern University PA program in Boston, Massachusetts, she worked in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery in a Harvard University-affiliated hospital.

When she met her husband and moved to the Northern Virginia area in 1998, she worked in Washington, DC practicing in Internal Medicine/Women’s Health. She has an interest in Preventive Medicine and Women’s Health. She is passionate about Wellness and Public Speaking on the subject of motivating others to follow a Healthier Life Style. “One of the most rewarding aspects of practicing medicine at Burke Internal Medicine is treating patients from all over the world of different ethnicities and cultures.” She is also fluent in Portuguese and competent in Spanish.

Luisa has been on Oprah & Friends Radio Talk Show with Bob Greene (2007) and on the Dr. Oz Radio Show with Dr. Roizen from the Cleveland Clinic. She also was a guest on The Kathleen Show from Madison, Wisconsin and on a podcast discussing, “A Weighty Issue…those extra pounds have a huge effect on your health.”

She is on the Advisory Board of Dr. Sears Wellness Institute.
She has written several health articles for newspapers and health related magazines.
