Dr. Gochnour enjoys ranching and spending time with family and friends. He is involved with the International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA) and his local church in Anderson, Texas.

Biography

Dr. David Gochnour is a proud native Texan and a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Biomedical Science. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed residency in General Surgery at UTHSC, and a fellowship in minimally invasive, robotic and bariatric surgery at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Gochnour is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is an active member of the Texas Surgical Society,  the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and is State Faculty for the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)program. He serves an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center and is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery for the St. Joseph Regional and College Station Hospitals.

Dr. Gochnour was led into medicine when he was sent to a combat medic course while in the Army and continues to serve as a surgeon in the US Army Reserve with multiple deployments to Afghanistan. He chose to specialize in surgical weight loss because of the profound life changes witnessed when patients are successful, and the joy of being an active part of that transformation.
