Personal Interests
Dr. David P. Samuels has called Statesboro home since 2001. He and his family were drawn to the community for its small-town atmosphere, continued growth, and strong sense of community, and Statesboro has remained an important part of both his personal and professional life.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Samuels enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and staying active. He has a longstanding commitment to physical fitness and is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. His interest in fitness and healthy living also influences his approach to patient care, recognizing the important connection between physical health and mental well-being.
One of his greatest passions is aviation. Dr. Samuels is an instrument-rated private pilot and continues to enjoy flying in his personal time.
Biography
Dr. David P. Samuels is a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder and Medical Director of DPS Health & Wellness. He established the practice in Statesboro in 2015 with a commitment to providing high-quality, accessible psychiatric care to patients in Southeast Georgia.
Since that time, DPS Health & Wellness has grown significantly. The original Statesboro practice has expanded into a larger facility, and the practice now serves patients through offices in Statesboro, Savannah, and Milledgeville, as well as through telehealth services.
Dr. Samuels is committed to providing thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care and to continually advancing the services available to patients. He regularly participates in continuing medical education and has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
As Medical Director, Dr. Samuels oversees the clinical direction of DPS Health & Wellness and works alongside a multidisciplinary team of psychiatric providers and licensed therapists. Under his leadership, the practice has continued to expand both its clinical team and the treatment options available to patients while maintaining a focus on compassionate, evidence-based mental health care.
Dr. Samuels is licensed to practice medicine in Georgia and Florida.
