Biography

Rob Yurisko is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision designation (LISW-S) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with Clinical Supervision designation (LICDC-CS). He earned his Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University with a concentration in clinical social work.

With nearly 20 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, Rob has worked across multiple levels of care in diverse clinical settings. In addition to private practice, he teaches in the Social Work Department at Ohio University in Athens and in the Applied Sciences and Human Services Department at Columbus State Community College. Coming from a family of educators, he has been told he has a natural ability to translate complex psychological and behavioral concepts into clear, practical language clients can immediately apply. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Heartland Recovery High School, which supports teens struggling with substance use disorder.

Rob specializes in men’s issues, life transitions, grief, addiction, sexuality, spirituality, and helping individuals clarify meaning and purpose. He works especially well with clients who feel stuck, disconnected, or at a turning point and are ready to take responsibility for the next chapter of their lives.

His clinical training includes Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF), Adventure Therapy (AT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). His work is further informed by his interest in evolutionary psychology and contemplative traditions, which shape his understanding of human behavior, motivation, and personal growth.

Rob values simplicity, accountability, humor, and authentic human connection. His approach to therapy is collaborative, direct, and growth-oriented—grounded in deep respect for each client’s autonomy and inherent dignity. His personal mission is simple: continue growing, help others grow, foster genuine connection, and enjoy the process along the way.
