Biography

Velma Valentine MSW, LISW-S is a licensed social worker with over 25 years of experience working with a variety of populations in different settings. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process with the client being the expert on his/her own life and the therapist being a resource to help overcome difficulties on life’s journey. Velma takes an eclectic approach to working with clients and is specifically trained in cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and interpersonal therapies. She has also been trained in sexual problems and couples’ therapy. Although Velma works with a variety of populations she specializes in working with the GLBT community. She is able to work with clients on issues ranging from anxiety and depression to life transitions, self-esteem and sexual health. Whatever the issue, Velma can help you live life as fully and wonderfully as possible.
