Biography

Martha is a certified family nurse practitioner; she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, and her Masters in Nursing as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden Kentucky; she is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Martha is a native to Thomas County and is married to Michael Hanna, they have three children and four grandchildren. Since 2008, Martha and Michael have led numerous medical mission trips to Guatemala and Haiti. She is currently the Medical Coordinator of Trade School Haiti in Gonaives, Haiti. Martha and her family also operate Hands and Hearts for Horses, where they provide therapeutic riding lessons for special needs riders with various mental disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, knitting, and horse riding.

When asked what her goals are, Martha referenced a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeeded.” She works every day to make a difference in someone’s life.
