Biography

Dr. Lovelace, a Columbia, SC native, graduated from Clemson University in 1981 and earned his medical degree from MUSC in 1985. After marrying his college sweetheart, Mary, and having their first child, Dr. Lovelace’s commitment to rural family medicine was strengthened by a sermon inspiring him to “go where no one else will go and do what no one else will do” for God’s glory. Following residency at UVA in Charlottesville, VA, Dr. Lovelace opened Lovelace Family Medicine in Prosperity, SC, in 1988. Over the years, he built a thriving practice, delivering over 220 babies in his second year alone, and became deeply involved in his community, serving as Chief of Staff at Newberry Hospital and Medical Director of the two local nursing homes. Dr. Lovelace’s dedication to his patients earned him recognition as SC Family Physician of the Year (2014) and American Family Physician of the Year (2015). His passion for compassionate care continues with his leadership role at Still Hopes through LYNAY Medical, a healthcare initiative inspired by the commandment to "Love Your Neighbor As Yourself." Dr. Lovelace's practice emphasizes comprehensive primary care and a strong commitment to serving others in the spirit of faith and community. The LYNAY acronym for Love Your Neighbor As Yourself serves as a daily reminder of the second great commandment and provides an opportunity to give back to the mission of the Episcopal Church which played a foundational role in his medical journey.
