Biography

I am a board-certified internal medicine physician with experience caring for patients in many different medical settings. I believe in evidence-based care and focus on lifestyle changes whenever possible, alongside proven medical treatments.

After many years of hospital-based (inpatient) care, I transitioned to primary care to focus on prevention and long-term health. During my inpatient work, I often cared for patients with serious medical conditions that could have been prevented with early care and proper follow-up. This experience shaped my passion for preventive medicine and chronic disease management.

I believe in partnering with patients to create personalized prevention and treatment plans that support health at every stage of life. With the right medical therapy, motivation, and close follow-up, chronic conditions can be well managed, improving both quality and length of life.

I chose internal medicine because it allows me to care for the whole person, not just individual conditions. My training and experience allow me to meet the needs and of my patients. At Pioneer Medical Associates, we welcome adults for routine physicals and preventive care, management of chronic conditions, evaluation and treatment of acute medical concerns and weiight loss and obesity management

We also care for seniors and patients with complex medical conditions involving multiple body systems.

We believe healthcare should feel welcoming and personal. We are a small practice and we provide care to our patients in a highly personal and family-like environment.. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, high-quality care in an environment that feels comfortable and supportive.

We are proud to be part of Privia Medical Group, which supports small practices and helps navigate the complexities of today’s healthcare system.

I completed medical school at Baghdad Medical School in 1999. After moving to the United States, I completed my internal medicine residency at Englewood Hospital in partnership with Mount Sinai School of Medicine, serving as Chief Resident in my final year. I then practiced as a hospitalist for many years in New Jersey, where I was involved in resident education and served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Since moving to Virginia in 2021, I have been affiliated with Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, where I continue to provide inpatient care.
