Personal Interests

Biography

Prior to pursuing her career as a nurse, and later as a family nurse practitioner, Lakshmi was a pharmacist in India. As a child, she always wanted to work in healthcare to make a positive impact and meaningfully contribute to the welfare of society. This desire steered her toward nursing, and to later become a nurse practitioner, so that she could have a greater impact and develop a closer relationship with patients. For two years, Lakshmi worked as a nurse in both cardiovascular and women’s surgical units. Since 2020, she has served as a family nurse practitioner in rural towns of South Texas. Lakshmi believes in a holistic approach to patient care, treating patients the way she or her family would like to be treated. In addition to treating physical ailments with targeted approaches and medication, she also believes that “mind over matter” plays a large role, and that strong affirmations with healthy lifestyle changes can greatly contribute to controlling many health conditions. Seeing her patients improve or completely overcome their medical conditions gives Lakshmi immense happiness and satisfaction, and motivates her to go to work every day.
