Personal Interests

Dr. Hippeard married his wife, Lisa, in 1997. Lisa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and currently the manager of his practice. They have three children: twin daughters, Madeline and Abigail, and a son, Christopher. Dr. Hippeard’s family is his highest pride and joy in life!

Dr. Hippeard still loves history, but his main pursuit outside of the office and his family is music. Dr. Hippeard has been a percussionist since the age of 12, playing in many community music organizations since that time. He studied percussion while attending Virginia Tech under John Floyd, timpanist for the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Dr. Hippeard plays timpani for the Valley Chamber Orchestra and the Bedford Community Orchestra. He is often asked to play drumset/percussion for local musical theaters, including Showtimers!, Attic Productions in Fincastle and Mill Mountain Theater. He has also performed with the Roanoke Valley Community Band, Winds of the Blue Ridge and several local church orchestras. He has most recently donned lederhosen and joined the Sauerkraut Band as a drummer!

Dr. Hippeard and his family currently attend First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Dr. Hippeard is a member of Melrose Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. #139 and Kazim Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S., where he is the drummer of the Kazim Band.
