Biography

Joining Mount Vernon Physical Therapy's team of skilled physical therapists is Mt. Vernon, VA native Kathleen Thompson. A graduate of West Potomac High School and Old Dominion University with a BS in Sports Medicine, she went on to receive a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University, fulfilling her educational goal of becoming a physical therapist.

Kathleen brings her enthusiasm to MVPT and her over 20 years experience as a physical therapist. She has had years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient clinics where she treated patients with a variety of needs, including acute and cardiac care, orthopedic, neurological, balance, wound and ventilator weaning rehab. Most recently she worked with inpatient joint replacement patients at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital, where she was also a member of the outpatient clinic team helping patients of all ages recover their maximum abilities after experiencing orthopedic or neurological events.

On a personal level she enjoys spending time with her family, which includes not only a husband and three children but also a dog and a rabbit, volunteering in the Mount Vernon community and her children's schools, as well as raising service dogs for the military veterans' Warrior Canine Connection program.
