About Dr. Sumit Duggal, MD, FACC, RPVI | Cardiologist in Frederick, MD
Dr. Sumit Duggal, MD, FACC, RPVI is a board-certified cardiologist in Frederick, Maryland, with more than 20 years of experience in comprehensive cardiovascular care. He is the founder of Summit Cardiovascular Care, a patient-centered cardiology practice dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, and long-term management of heart disease.
Dr. Duggal specializes in non-invasive cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging, providing expert evaluation and treatment for conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, and vascular disease. His approach emphasizes individualized care, clear communication, and continuity of care.
Dr. Duggal completed his Cardiology fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network. He gained extensive clinical experience practicing cardiology at Cleveland Clinic, where he served as a cardiology hospitalist in a high-acuity tertiary care setting. He managed patients with advanced heart failure, complex arrhythmias, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and valvular and aortic heart disease, including pre- and post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients. His work included leadership responsibilities and recognition for excellence in patient care.
Prior to founding Summit Cardiovascular Care, Dr. Duggal served as Site Director for Cardiology at WellSpan Gettysburg and later practiced as a non-invasive cardiologist in Frederick, Maryland, providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient cardiovascular care.
Dr. Duggal is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and holds additional certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). His clinical expertise includes transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing, nuclear cardiology, cardiac PET imaging, vascular ultrasound, and ambulatory rhythm monitoring.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Duggal has contributed to peer- reviewed research and national scientific meetings. At Summit Cardiovascular Care, he brings academic-level expertise into a personalized, independent cardiology practice serving Frederick, Maryland, and surrounding communities.
