Biography
Dr. Milani is well-recognized in his field. A Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians, he has published several of his own research publications. Dr. Milani enjoys learning, teaching, and practicing medicine equally. Dr. Milani's role as a preceptor contributes to the education and professional development of future healthcare practitioners, helping them become competent and compassionate providers in their respective fields.
His interest in medicine began while earning his Bachelor of Science in biology at George Mason University, from which he graduated in 1990. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1995. After completing his residency, Dr. Milani moved to Northern Virginia to continue practicing family medicine and later opened his private practice, Virginia Family Medicine, in 2006.
Dr Milani has developed a scientifically based weight management program utilizing the best evidence medicine has to offer and modern methodologies designed to provide a safe and extremely effective experience. Additionally, Dr. Milani is certified in opioid addiction treatment and is designated as a Civil Surgeon by the Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Milani has a strong interest in human rights and has made access to top-quality care a priority by founding the Center for Health and Human Rights in 2012, a non-profit making healthcare accessible to underserved populations.
