Overview

An IUD is a small device placed in the uterus to provide long-lasting birth control. It is one of the most effective methods available and a great option for women who want something dependable and low-maintenance. At Fairfax Gynecology in Fairfax, Virginia, we understand that many patients feel nervous about the procedure. The experience is different for everyone, and our team is here to explain each step, answer your questions, and provide support throughout the process.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Your provider will guide you through the insertion step by step. The procedure is usually brief, but everyone experiences it differently. Some patients feel pressure or cramping, while others describe a more intense sensation. We encourage you to communicate with us throughout the process so we can support you however you need.
