Obstetric Services at Kessler Women’s Healthcare

At Kessler Women’s Healthcare, we strive to provide you with personalized, attentive obstetric care. The right obstetrician should make you feel empowered in your health and needs—as well as your baby’s needs. We work closely with each of our patients to develop a personalized treatment plan for the prenatal, labor, and postpartum periods.  Our goal is to make this a healthy and joyous time for you and your growing family!

Our Comprehensive Obstetric Services

Prenatal Care & Education

Routine prenatal care is essential for you and your baby. At our office, we provide routine lab testing, including genetic/gender screenings, as well as routine ultrasounds.  Each visit is an opportunity for you to discuss your preferences, concerns, and questions with your provider.  Care is designed to screen for and/or prevent common pregnancy complications and to help guide you through complicated care if you have preexisting medical problems, like high blood pressure, thyroid disease, autoimmune disease, or diabetes, among others.  All of our providers can educate you on different topics at each visit, but at Kessler Women’s we also offer a free, specialty service for our expecting patients—monthly virtual lactation/breastfeeding classes taught by Dr Theresa Patton! Ask your MA how to sign up for a class today!

Low & High-Risk Pregnancy Care

What makes a pregnancy “high” risk is not well-defined.  Sometimes it’s pre-existing conditions like obesity, diabetes, or high blood pressure.  Sometimes it’s your age.  Sometimes it’s your personal lived experience with past trauma, mental health disease, or previous difficulty deliveries and/or C-sections.  Regardless of your individual circumstances, rest assured that our providers are well-equipped to develop a plan of care with you that is guided by the most current and highest quality medical science available.  We also work closely with our Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians who are specially trained in high risk pregnancy and, at times, they will see you alongside us to develop the perfect plan for you and your baby.

Delivery

Delivery care is provided at Methodist Dallas Medical Center—right across from our office!  Kessler physicians share call with another group in our community that is comprised of seven additional amazing doctors (5 male/2 female) who we feel provide the same high quality of care to our patients as we do at Kessler.  This does mean that the doctor who sees you in the office may not be on call when you go into labor, but it also means that we can be present and well-rested when we are taking care of patients during their labor and delivery process.  If you have questions about this arrangement please discuss with your provider at your next visit!

Postpartum Care/Lactation Support

Our comprehensive postpartum visits include a full assessment of your physical recovery as well as the social and psychological  well-being of you and your family.  We will discuss pelvic floor rehabilitation services available to you as well as your options for family planning/child spacing as you desire.  In addition, Dr Patton provides in office lactation support for you and baby after you deliver.  She will watch a feeding and help guide you through the early bumps in the road that can happen on your breastfeeding journey.  Ask your MA how to schedule with her for these services!
