Biography

Tanya was raised in Prince Georges County Maryland where she graduated from Largo High School.  She graduated from Prince Georges Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1996.  From there, she practiced at Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland on the Mother-Baby, Antepartum, Postpartum,  GYN, and Newborn Nursery unit.  She then went to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD and worked on the Post-Partum and Newborn Nursery Unit.  After marrying in 1999, she went to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC where she worked as a staff nurse for 22 years for the Children’s (birth to 11 yrs.) and Adolescent Health Centers (12-22yrs) for Primary care, she also held the role as nurse manager for these clinics.  Prior to becoming a nurse manager, she started a Bachelor’s in Nursing program at Bowie State University.  Upon graduation from Bowie State in 2005, she had her first child in 2005. After a short time as a stay at home mom, she returned to Children’s National on an as needed basis where she co-coordinated an RSV prophylaxis program for premature, high risk, and infants with heart and lung conditions.  Additionally, she filled in as a school nurse at a public boarding school in DC. During this time she welcomed her second child in 2009.  In 2015, she returned to Children’s National as a full time Telephone Triage Nurse for the Children’s and Adolescent Health Centers.  During her nursing career at Children’s she became a Pediatric Certified Nurse and has worked with special population groups of children with Obesity, HIV, and LGBTQ. In 2017, she returned to school at Walden University to pursue a Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

After graduating from Walden University in 2021, Tanya decided to shift gears in her career and work with the Adult population.  She found this shift challenging and exciting.  Her oldest patient was 105!  She worked in an Internal Medicine Practice in Annapolis for almost 3 years.  In attempts to have a better work family balance she went to work at Core Life which is a multidisciplinary weight loss program.  She is experienced with use of various medications to assist with weight loss including GLP-1 and GIP’s.  While she enjoyed this environment and her patient’s she found that missed the variety and environment of Primary Care which has led her to her current position here at Inspire Integrative Medicine.

As a Primary Care provider, Tanya enjoys developing trusting relationships with her patients and families and she continues to enjoy working with the children and Adolescent populations when given the opportunity.

Tanya currently lives in Crofton, MD with her husband of almost 26 years and her two sons aged 19 and 15.  In her free time, she spends lots of time at the ice hockey rink with her youngest son, visiting her oldest son at Salisbury University, reading or gardening.
